Our program puts our students and their emotional, physical, and psychological well-being first.
Our program was created from our Faculty and Director’s combined experiences teaching in many different dance programs. As a former professional Musical Theatre & Ballet Dancer and graduate of Pace University’s Commercial Dance program, our Peak Youth Dance Program Director (Ms. Nancy Canning) recognized the need for a unique program to prepare students for the demanding, diverse and exciting world of professional dance- that would start with a strong ballet foundation. After seeing injuries, burnout, and award-driven models not properly serving students or providing longevity in training or careers throughout her early teaching career, Ms. Canning has been instrumental in helping to create a safe, positive and productive space for young people in the community to learn the art of dance.
Peak Performing Arts Center Ballet Academy utilizes our faculty’s shared dance experiences, which draw from a wide range of Ballet techniques, as well as the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9-level program that combines high-quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 6 classes are directed by ABT® Certified Teacher, Nancy Canning, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 6 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Our faculty has extensive training in all styles of dance and we are proud to be able to train students at the Pre-Professional level in Ballet, Jazz, Musical Theatre, Tap, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Modern, Lyrical, and more.
